FAQ

Do I need an appointment for an estimate?

We do require scheduled appointments for estimates.  We have appointments available from 9.00 am-5:00pm Monday To Friday.  Call us at 01253 735544 to schedule.

Do I need more than one estimate?

No, it is up to you to decide how many estimates you would like and if you want to discuss the repairs with more than one shop. Once you have selected a shop, have your insurance company deal directly with them.

Can I have my vehicle repaired at the shop of my choice?

Yes. You have the legal right to choose where you have your vehicle repaired

What should I look for when choosing a repair facility?

Review customer testimonials and look for proof of employee training and certification with automobile manufacturers. Repair shops should also guarantee their work with a lifetime warranty.  Stanways Autobodies is a certified, full-service auto body shop. We take pride in our knowledge and expertise and you can take comfort in knowing we can help ensure the safety and performance of your vehicle.  Each vehicle is repaired to factory specifications in our state-of-the-art collision repair facility.

Do you use factory parts?

Yes. We prefer and recommend the use original equipment manufacturer (OEM) parts for all repairs, and we will do everything within our power to maximize the use of OEM parts. However, your insurance company might only pay for aftermarket, used, or reconditioned parts.

What is a Direct Repair Shop?

Insurance carriers partner with auto repair shops that meet certain standards of quality and expertise.  Insurance companies then provide their customers with a list of DRP's (Direct Repair Providers). Stanways Autobodies is listed as a DRP for many insurance carriers. Even if we are not a DRP with your insurance company, you can still choose us to repair your vehicle because we work with ALL insurance companies.

How much does it cost?

As each paint or panel damage situation is unique, the cost to repair your vehicle will depend on a few factors, such as your location, the severity of the vehicle damage, the time it would take to complete the service repair, its proximity on the vehicle, the colour of your vehicle and the expertise needed to repair your vehicle. Generally we will be able to carry out a repair for significantly less than a body shop, where you will obtain the benefit of same day, onsite service without having to deliver the car to a workshop early in the morning and picking it up again after a couple of days.

How do you match the colour?

Every vehicle has a paint code applied by the manufacturer somewhere on the vehicle. This code is entered into a computer database covering virtually every vehicle manufactured in the world over the last 20 years. Using this database we can formulate, mix and produce an exact colour matched batch of paint.

How are the repairs carried out?

Damaged  areas are cleaned and repaired, with major dents reduced as much as possible by panel beating. minor dents, deep scratches and gouges are repaired and resurfaced to retain a smooth substrate. The area once smoothed and restored to its original contours, is then primed and colour-matched, before top-coating with a fast-drying clear coat lacquer that is dust dry in 20 minutes. The finish is identical to the factory finish and may be treated in exactly the same way once fully cured.

Will I be able to see the difference?

We aim for our repairs to be unnoticeable to anyone oblivious to the original damage. As it is a repair and not a replacement part, we aim for the repair to be 97%+ of its original factory finish. A trained eye can pick out even a high end bodyshop repair if closely inspected. We aim for a high end repair but at at a fraction of the price.

How long does it take to dry?

In most instances the repainted area will be dust dry in 20 minutes after application. Within 20 minutes to an hour after application of the top coat, the finish will be sufficiently hard to allow us to machine polish and complete the repair process. You may wash the car 7 days after the repair is completed and it is recommended that no sealing waxes or polishes are used on the new paint / lacquer application for a further one month after that time

Why are we different to other mobile car body repair services?

We pride ourselves on the quality of the work we produce and can state with confidence that our quality assured workmanship ensures quality!
